Operations Mains Supervisor

The primary function of the Operations Supervisor is to supervise field personnel by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies. The Operations Supervisor follows direction set by the Operations Manager and implements programs to ensure attainment of business plan in terms of growth and profit. Responsible for maintaining field activities at a set standard. Recommends changes, reviews processes and cost estimates or proposals. Provides direction and structure for field operating units. Assists Artisan’s and Team Leader’s with technical knowledge. Supports Technical Department with information about field activities.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Minimum N6 Diploma and Qualified Tradesman (Boilermaker/Welding)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ Supervising experience on oil and gas industry.
  • Computer Literate (advanced skills).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Sound knowledge of safety and gas related fieldwork.
  • Strong technical and leadership skills. Ability to work within and motivate a team.
  • Reading and understanding of technical drawings / road maps.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to deal with a diverse number of people.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and stressful situations.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Stand-by duties.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Field Activities: Responsible for the supervision of all field activities within the Operations Department ensuring a quality service is delivered timeously.
  • Ensure all field activities meet and integrate with the organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal requirements, environmental policies and general duty of care.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor must contribute to the evaluation and development of operational field strategies and performance standards in order to achieve field objectives and goals.
  • On-going review of processes to optimize field efficiencies.
  • Monitor and control workflow to ensure completion of tasks by scheduled due dates.
  • Documentation / Administration
  • Responsible for the measurement and reporting of all operational issues.
  • Ensure departmental expenditure / overtime is managed and controlled.
  • Liaise with other departmental managers.
  • Report monthly on adherence to departmental expense budgets.
  • Monthly report on department activities and outputs.

Safety
  • Adhere to all the company’s safety practice (OHSACT and all associated legal requirements).
  • Timeously address all infringements and report to the Safety officer.
